Congratulations on taking this important step and equipping your teachers, students and staff with ALICE Training®. Whole-child safety takes a community, and we are here to support you every step of the way as you implement this lifesaving program. We’ve created a set of resources to help you showcase your enhanced safety and security plans for the new school year. Helping families and the community at large understand the value of ALICE Training® will equip them to support the work you’re doing on campus and extend its benefits beyond the walls of your school.
Active shooter response training in schools is an understandably sensitive subject. Each resource has been created to help you educate your community on the vital work you're doing to ensure the safety of your school. The aim of these tools is to encourage open communication.
You’ll find the following in this toolkit:
This brief presentation will help you communicate the evidence-based nature and value of ALICE Training® to parents and community members.
Use this to announce to your community that you are prioritizing the physical safety and security of your students and staff by implementing ALICE Training®.
Include this resource along with the Letter to Families to provide additional information about some of the most common questions and concerns families have about their children receiving ALICE Training®.
This letter can be shared with families to help them understand that ALICE Training® is not the traditional, single-option lockdown approach. It will inform them of the basic pillars of ALICE and their value as trauma-informed, age- and ability-appropriate response options to violent critical incidents and other emergencies.
